Woah ! Finally ! I managed to finish it ! After a day or so of monitor hopping and adjusting, i managed to fix the gamma to be closer to normal... So I decided to rework the original image i had lots of issues with. I changed just about 50% of the original file.To be precise about things, in this piece i've used every bit of knowledge I have about photoshop.Every little trick I picked up along the years... so it was a kind of prooving ground to myself. It was a exciting but tiresome experience alltogether. And I'm still not satisfied with the gamma and the light (i think it's too dark ! :shakefist:).the woman's hair had to be redone, because in the original stock photo she lied on a ball on her back and her hair fell onto the floor (here upwards, instead of downwards) so this is what I went through: [link]

You can see some of the technical specs below:

PSD file size: 364 Mbytes
Layers: around 50-60
Original image size: 5945x4945 pixels/in
Resolution: 240 DPI
Worktime: 3 days (and nights)
Photos used: around 20
Miscellania: 1 l of coffe drunk, a few energy drinks, lots of headaches and eye glares + some 10 Photoshop and puter crashes beacause of the file and image size. :frustrated:

Did this for the contest :iconmjranum: is holding ! :) I really need a good tablet very bad and this is a pretty much unique opportunity... ;P

Stock: SXC and :iconmjranum-stock:

A personal advice: Listen to Nightwish - The Islander while watching.

PS: I tell you if this doesn't deserve a look, I'm gonna quit this job ! I swear !

Thank you for the fav on my "winter secrets" and this is truly the favourite of mine! the level of perfection is very impressive, I didn't have the patience to finish off mine properly...

thank you.. I spent a good deal of work on it back then. Funny enough that eagerness to prove myself was the same one which kind of demotivated me when I found out that I didn't even enter runners up in that contest... But at least i got to reach a certain peak, and it still counts for something. :) Also, the majority of the work usually goes into the details, and photomanipulation is all about how much of those you can squeeze in, kind of a story. :)And your piece felt right, at least for me. Rough around the edges but definately right ! My guess is you're probably going to look at it at some point and start adding details when you're going to find them.. :) That's how it usually happends. So i'd say don't worry too much. :)

to be honest, I was so dissapointed with missing the deadline and not turning in this work, that I don't even want to work on it any longer...
I've moved on to the next project, hopefully, this one will go better...

thanks for the support though.
every effort counts, of course, it's constant skill perfection at the end. so, no, of course, it wasn't for nothing...
you are very right about the details, you had definitely mastered that art. may be not to you fullest potential, but you are definitely getting there!! amazing job. bravo, again :)

This is amazing! Last night while I was checking out your gallery it was pretty late and I didn't stop at every single piece but I'm glad I came back to see all these wonderful details . Especially those red lights fascinate me lol. Whenever I tryed using something else than white for similar purposes it looked just wrong. In your case it completes the piece. I can't find any flaws and believe me, I've been staring at it for quite a while :omg:

thank you... that was a beautiful comment :) I really appreciate it alot. The thing with coloured lights is that they start out more transparent at the edges, and you build on them by increasing opacity by 20-30 percent while also decreasing brush size.the final touch is setting the brush to linear dodge , while using a small sized brush, to emulate that inner glow coming from the light... :)

yw... with photoshop its all about discovery. :) the program offers so much, while only demanding you or we in general spend time to discover the possibilities within. ;)
